Undecim

My Installation work ‘Undecim’ explores themes of childhood memories and self-identity. To represent my childhood I have made dresses and shoes. The left shoe represents the reality of life and holds an object of penitence. The right shoe symbolises the fantasy that I used to cope with the reality. The concealed TV Screens are metaphors for my eyes through which you see some of my memories. The Videos show images from the school which I attended as a child, and the Easter processions which still haunt me. The Shoes with the boxes are penitence shoes for sexuality and vanity and each holds objects related to those ‘sinful’ feelings.
